Finding the Perfect Location
Utah's desert landscapes boast a stunning variety of backdrops, from majestic red rock formations to vast sandstone arches. When choosing a location for your elopement, consider the full picture. Including your experience, the look you like, and activities you'd like to include in your big day. Are you looking for a dramatic canyon setting or a secluded spot with panoramic views? Research different locations to find the perfect backdrop that resonates with your vision. Not sure where to start? You can ask me and I'll help you choose the perfection location for your preferences.
Embracing the Elements
Utah's desert climate can be unpredictable, with scorching heat during the day and chilly nights. Be prepared for varying weather conditions by packing essentials such as sunscreen, hats, water, and layers to keep you comfortable throughout the day. Embrace the natural elements of the desert and let them add an extra touch of magic to your elopement.

Permits and Regulations
Before you exchange vows in the Utah desert, ensure you have the necessary permits and understand any regulations that may apply to your chosen location. Some areas require permits for weddings or elopements to protect the environment and preserve the natural beauty of the landscape. Research permit requirements well in advance to avoid any last-minute hurdles.
For example if you want to get married in Moab, Utah you will need a permit for the following locations:
Arches National Park
Canyonlands National Park
Dead Horse Point State Park
BLM Land (Bureau of Land Management)
Your vendors and photographer will also need a seperate permit for Dead Horse Point & BLM Land. I have a permit for both of these options and renew my permit as needed.
Another example would be for all National Parks. We have 5 in Utah, all being in the Utah Desert. If you're looking for a quick permit, you will want to go with Captiol Reef National Park. They can get permits as fast as one week where most parks have a 30 day minimum. For parks like Zion National Park you will want to apply much earlier!
Choosing the Right Time
The desert offers different charms at various times of the day. Consider the lighting and temperature when selecting the timing for your ceremony. Sunrise and sunset are popular choices for elopements in the desert, offering soft, golden light that enhances the romantic atmosphere. Plan your ceremony time around the desired lighting to capture stunning photographs that you will cherish forever.
Personalizing Your Ceremony
One of the perks of eloping is the freedom to personalize your ceremony in a way that reflects your relationship authentically. Write your vows, choose meaningful readings, and incorporate traditions that hold significance for both of you. Embrace the intimacy of your elopement to create a deeply personal and memorable experience.
Celebrating Afterwards
After saying "I do" in the Utah desert, make time to celebrate in your own special way. Enjoy a romantic picnic, a champagne toast at sunset, or a moonlit dance under the stars. Whether you plan a private dinner or an adventurous stargazing session, take a moment to bask in the happiness of your newly formed union amidst the serene desert landscape.
Planning a Utah desert elopement is an exciting adventure filled with endless possibilities for making your wedding day truly unforgettable. Embrace the vast expanse and natural beauty of the desert, and let it weave its magic into your love story. With careful planning and attention to detail, your Utah desert elopement is sure to be a cherished memory that you will treasure for a lifetime.
